The Ending I Want Read online

Page 2

Autumn just officially became my favorite season.

I can’t remember ever feeling as turned on as I do right now.

The instant my lips connected with his, my body felt like it was doused with gasoline, and a match was struck between my legs.

And I don’t think I’m alone in this. I can see the heated glare of lust in his stunning eyes.

Then, the realization of what I just did hits me.

I just mauled a complete stranger with my mouth. Oh my God!

I don’t know whether to laugh maniacally or crawl under my seat in embarrassment.

Yanking my gaze and my leg from him, I turn in my seat and stare at the window, which I can’t see out of because the shutter is still closed.

He never did get to open it because I stopped him with my kiss-crazy mouth.

I quickly slide the shutter open and stare out at the open airfield.

I can’t believe I just did that. I kissed him. Holy shit!

I kissed a total stranger. A hot stranger but a stranger nonetheless.

Guess I can cross that one off my list.

A bubble of laughter climbs up my throat, but I manage to hold it in.

Really not the time to laugh, Taylor.

You just kissed the guy. You don’t want him to think you’re crazy.

He already thinks you’re crazy. You just kiss-attacked him, moron!

And kissing a stranger who I have to sit next to for the next six hours probably wasn’t the best idea.

  Nice going, Taylor.

Oh, shit! What if he’s married? I could have just violated a sacred bond. Forced the guy to cheat.

Turning my face a little, I surreptitiously check out his left hand, which is resting on his thigh—he has really nice thighs—and there’s no ring.

  Thank God.

But what if he has a girlfriend?

Well, he did kiss me back, so I would hope the hell not.

Still, I should probably say something. Like, Sorry for kissing you.

But I can still taste him in my mouth.

I touch my fingers to my lips, and I can’t help but smile. At the memory of his kiss and the way he felt under my hands, a quiver happens in my belly.

It’s really hard to be sorry for kissing him when he’s made me feel this amazing. But I should say it anyway even if I don’t mean it. It’s just good manners to apologize when you’ve kissed a guy you don’t know without any warning even if he did kiss you back.

“Um…I’m not exactly sure why I just did that.” I bite my lip, unable to look him directly in the face. “I’m really sorry.”

He’s silent for so long that I have to look. And he looks like he’s…almost offended by my words. Or maybe he’s just offended by me planting my lips on his. I mean, I would be offended if a random person kissed me out of the blue. Well, maybe not if they looked like him. I would pretend to be offended, but inside, I’d totally be doing cartwheels.

His eyes meet mine, and his look sears through me. “Don’t be sorry. I’m not.” His hot English voice sounds all rough and sexy, making me shiver even more.

And…he’s not sorry that I kissed him. Interesting.

“But you lied when you said you didn’t know why you kissed me,” he adds.

That gets my attention. My brows lift. “I lied?”

“Mmhmm. You know why you kissed me.”

  “I do?”

“It’s because I’m irresistible.” A smile flickers in his eyes, lighting up his whole face.

  Goddamn, he’s handsome.

I fight to keep the smile from mine. “Oh, is that so?”

“Yep. Strange women kiss me all the time.”

“God, it must suck to be you.”

“Yeah, it’s hard going.” He gives a dramatic sigh, that damn smile still on his face.

I stare down at my hands as a beat of silence passes between us.

“Actually,” I say, “it wasn’t that—not that you’re not irresistible—but I kissed you because I wanted to kiss a stranger.”

I lift my eyes back to him. He’s still looking at me.

“Interesting thing to want to do.”

“I have a whole list of things I want to do.”

Why did I tell him that?

My eyes seek out my list, which is on the floor along with my pen and the Hunter Airways brochure. They must’ve fallen when I was busy sticking my tongue down his throat.

Leaning down, I pick them up and set them on my lap—list facedown, of course.

He stretches out in his seat and then nudges my leg with his. Heat travels from the spot he just touched, heading straight to my happy place.

“Well, I’m glad I could be of service to help you cross that off your list,” he says. “If you have anything else on that list—you know, like sex in an airplane bathroom—then I will definitely be down for helping you out with that, too.”

I can’t help but smile. “Good to know. Thanks.”

And, now, I can’t stop staring at the restroom sign.

  Fuck.

Well, that’s exactly what I’m thinking about—or more like, him doing it to me in that restroom right there.

“You’re thinking about it right now, aren’t you?” he says, his voice low, like he’s just read my mind.

I slide my eyes to his. My breath catches at the look in them. Lust, total lust.

I force myself to focus on anything but that lust. “Of course I’m thinking about it. You can’t say something like to a person and not expect them to think about it. But thinking and doing aren’t the same thing.”

“No, they’re not.” A pause and then he says, “So, you and me in the bathroom?”

  “No.”

  “It’s off the list?”

Grinning, I shake my head. This guy is funny. And hot. Dangerous combination. “It was never on it,” I tell him.

“Shame.” He chuckles. “Damn fucking shame.”

A stewardess appears beside us. She’s looking down at English Hottie. “Sir, the captain asked me to come and check on you. Are you absolutely sure you don’t want to be in first-class? We can make adjustments.”

He stares up at her, a firm smile on his lips. “No, I’m fine here.” He flickers a glance at me, which instantly heats me up on the inside, and then he looks back to her.

He’s turning first-class down? Who does that?

She shifts her stance, her eyes flickering over the cabin. “Well, if you’re absolutely sure. But if you change your mind, I can move you straight away. If you need anything, just call me, and I’ll get it.”

“I will”—I watch his eyes go to her name badge—“Sarah. Thank you.”

She lingers, just staring at him, and then seems to come to. “Okay, well, I’ll be back to check on you soon, sir.”

Wow, the power of good looks. I don’t think she even realized I was here.

“So, I guess I should formally introduce myself—you know, seeing as though we’ve already shared saliva. I’m Liam.” He holds his hand out to shake mine.

My eyes go to his large hand. Seems weird to shake his hand after I’ve just had his tongue in my mouth, but what the hell?

I slip my hand into his. His hand his smooth and strong, and it dwarfs mine. He curls his long fingers around my hand and squeezes. My mouth goes dry, and my panties get wet.

“Taylor,” I say, my voice sounding incredibly husky. Almost sexy. Very unlike me.

“Taylor,” he repeats softly. “Beautiful name for a beautiful woman.”

I laugh softly, rolling my eyes. “Smooth.”

“I can be rough when I need to be.”

  Holy…

I actually gulp because…well, him saying those words in that English accent—hot as fuck.

“So, Taylor, with the list from Boston—”

“I never told you I was from Boston.”

“You’re on a flight from Boston. Call it a wild guess.”

“Well, you’re on a flight from Bosto
n, but you’re not from Boston.” I don’t know why I’m being so obtuse. But being this way with him is kinda fun.

“My English accent gave it away, huh?” He smirks. “Okay, so, Taylor, with the list, who isn’t from Boston—where are you from?”

  “Boston.” I grin.

He lets out a deep laugh. It resounds in my chest, leaving me with a warm glowy feeling.

“You make me laugh,” he tells me.

“You say that like not many people do.”

His eyes pin mine. “They don’t. I’m a hard man to please.”

  I can imagine.

“So, is that the list?” He taps a finger to the paper in my lap.

“It is.” I curl my fingers around the edge of it.

  “Can I see it?”

“No, you can’t see it,” I say, offended that he thinks he can.

“Why not? What’s on there?” He’s leaning closer, curiosity written all over his face.

I lean away. “Nothing. It’s just private.”

“I think you and I are past private. You just had your tongue in my mouth.”

“So? Y-you had your tongue in my mouth.” And I’m five years old.

A smile slides onto those awesome lips of his. “And I am more than willing to put my tongue back in there. Just say the word.”

I roll my eyes. “You’re not kissing me again”—why did I say that? I would totally kiss him again. Sometimes, I could really slap myself—“and you’re not reading my list either.”

“Okay. Whatever you say.” He leans back in his chair, stretching his legs out the best he can with the limited room he has.

And I relax in the knowledge that we’re past this conversation.

Until the bastard snatches my list from my lap.

  “Hey!”

Liam turns away, so all I’m getting is his back as I try to grab my list.

  “Give me that back!”

“Go to England. Kiss a stranger. Have lots of sex,” his deep voice rumbles out the words I wrote.

He glances at me over his shoulder, a shit-eating grin on his face.

I don’t even bother with trying to get the list back now. What’s the point? He’s already seen it.

  Bastard.

I fall back into my seat, my face feeling like a blowtorch went at it. “You’re an asshole,” I mutter.

He turns to face me, my list in his hand but still held out of my reach. “Aw, don’t be like that, Taylor, from Boston. I was just curious to read it.”

I’m pretty sure he’s going for contrite, but he’s failing miserably.

I glare at him. I’m going for death-by-laser stare.

It doesn’t work because he gives me a panty-dropping smile. I’d like to say I’m unaffected, but I’m not; however, I don’t let him know that.

“Curious? I don’t think so. An effing thief? Yes.”

He laughs. “I’m sorry. But you don’t need to be embarrassed. It’s a good list.” He looks back to my list. “Have sex with a stranger,” he continues on reading. “Have sex with a stranger outdoors. You do know I can help you with all of these, right?” He lifts a brow at me.

I give him the middle finger.

He laughs again and looks back to the list. Then, he stops laughing and stares at me with what can only be described as complete horror. “You’ve never had oral sex?”

  Fuck.

Why the hell did I put that on my list?

Because I wasn’t expecting someone else to read it.

Mortification fills every part of me, and my face starts to burn.

Fighting against my discomfort, I fold my arms over my chest and lift my chin. “So what if I haven’t had oral sex? It’s not like it’s the law, you know.”

“Well, it fucking should be. I just…” He scratches his head. “How in the hell has someone who looks like you not had a guy go down on her before? I’d think men would be queuing up, begging to do it.”

“Clearly, they haven’t been,” I mutter, turning my eyes away.

“Well, we need to rectify this immediately,” he says, determination in his voice, yanking my eyes straight back to his.

  “What?” I squeak.

“I’m going to make you come with my mouth, and tongue.”

  Holy Mary, Mother of God!

“I’m not going in the airplane restroom with you.” My voice is still squeaky, and that burn of embarrassment has turned into a total hot flush.

A deep rumble of a laugh escapes Liam. “Trust me, gorgeous, there would be nothing more uncomfortable than me trying to go down on you in an airplane bathroom. The first time you have oral sex, it should be fucking stupendous, something you’ll never forget. So, the moment we land, you and I are going straight to my place, and I’m going to strip you naked and give you the pleasure of my tongue. For hours.”

  Hours?

My insides wobble. But my voice is clear. “I don’t think so.”

  What?

  “Why not?” He frowns.

  Yeah, Taylor, why not?

  “Because I don’t want a pity fuck.”

He shifts in his seat, facing me. “One, not fucking you would be the pity. And, two, I never said I was going to fuck you. I said I was going to give you oral sex.”

“Well, I don’t want pity oral sex then.”

“Believe me, there’ll be nothing pitiful about it. Just mind-blowing fucking pleasure.”

A hot rush of heat hits me straight between my legs. I squeeze my thighs together.

  He notices and grins.

I put my hands on my lap, covering my lady parts. “I’m not going to your place with you,” I tell him. “I don’t know you. You’re a stranger. You might be a serial killer.”

“I might be. But isn’t fucking a stranger on your list?”

He’s got me there. “It is, but you’re not exactly selling me with the serial-killer shit.”

  “I’m not a serial killer, I promise.”

“Said the serial killer before he slit my throat open.”

He throws his head back, laughing loudly.

A smile pushes onto my lips. His laugh is incredibly contagious.

Why am I so bothered if he is a serial killer? So I die a little early. At least I’d get to experience cunnilingus before I do.

  I’m kidding. Sort of.

“Where do you live?” I ask him.

He stops laughing and cocks a brow. “Chelsea. It’s in London.”

  Chelsea…nice area.

I ponder his offer for a moment. Can I really do this?

Well, you don’t exactly have much time left to live, and it’s not like you have a line of men offering to do this.

  “Okay,” I say.

“Okay?” he repeats. He sounds a little surprised, which is odd, considering this guy’s high level of confidence.

“I’ll go back to your place with you, so we can…well, you can”—I gesture a hand to his face and then my crotch—“do that.”

Seriously, what is wrong with me?

A hot smile spreads across his gorgeous mouth. “Glad to hear it.”

He hands me back my list.

Taking it, I fold it up and put it along with my pen back in my bag.

Oh my God. I can’t believe I just agreed to go and have sex with him—well, not sex. Oral sex.

Oh, who am I kidding? I’ll totally end up having sex with him.

If he’s putting out, I’ll be taking.

When you have as little time as I do, pondering on the rights and wrongs of sexual etiquette clearly go out the window.

I’m not exactly sure of what to do now. I’m just all kinds of excited and nervous about what’s going to happen when we land.

God, six hours of sitting next to him, knowing what he’s going to do to me soon…I don’t know how I’m going to talk to him or look at his mouth without imagining where it will be in those six hours.

On me—that’s where his sexy-as-sin mouth will be.

  I have to hold
in a squeal of excitement.

Picking up the Hunter Airways brochure, which is still in my lap, I cross my legs and open it up just for the sake of having something to do.

And the first thing I see is Liam.

  Literally.

There’s a photo of him in the magazine.

“Hey, there’s a photo of you…” The words die on my tongue when I actually take in the foreword.

  Holy shit.

“You’re Liam Hunter?” My own voice is like a dull thud in my head. “As in, the owner of Hunter Airways? And a bazillion other companies.”

I’m staring at him. He’s staring at me.

Then, his lips lift at the corner. “Well, I don’t own a bazillion companies. But, yeah, I am Liam Hunter.”

“Oh God,” I groan, covering my face with my hands. “I kiss-attacked the guy who owns this plane.”

I hear Liam’s deep chuckle, and then he tugs my hands from my face, forcing me to look at his face.

  “It’s not a big deal.”

“It’s so a big deal. I kiss-attacked Liam Hunter,” I repeat, groaning again.

“You really need to stop groaning like that because you’re turning me the fuck on.”

He shifts in his seat, and I follow his stare down to his crotch.

  Oh.

  Oh, wow.

  He totally has a hard-on.

  I’ve given Liam Hunter a hard-on.

  “Yes, you have.”

My eyes flick to his. “Did I…did I say that out loud?”

  “You did.”

  “Oh fuck,” I groan.

“For fuck’s sake, groan like that again, and I’ll be going down on you right here and now. I don’t give a shit who sees,” he says in a hushed tone.

My eyes bug out of my head. “You can’t do that!” I whisper back, shocked.

He levels me with a look. “I own the plane. I can do whatever the fuck I want.”

  Okay then.

“And just so you know, you kissing me was the sexiest thing that’s ever happened to me.”

I’m still wobbly over his prior comment, but I manage to slide him a look. “I guess you don’t get out much then.”

“Oh, I get out plenty.” He gives me a look that tells me that Liam Hunter gets out and about regularly.

  Then, something occurs to me.

“Hey, why are you sitting in economy? You own the plane. You should be sitting in first-class. Or on a throne or something. Anyway, don’t you have your own plane to fly you all over the world?”
